AM - 3 miles. Good run but foot was hurting a bit. Yoga was nice.

PM - 5 miles. I ran the 1600 and the 4x400 today. I got out nice and quick today, right next to Sage of DH and just behind Colton. That was about as good as it got from there. There was a slight headwind on the back stretch and I really should just have stayed right behind Colton so that he would take some of the wind but I didn't. I relaxed a little too much and Colton and Sage started to gap me towards the end of lap 2. Their gap kept growing and like 5 other people passed me over the last two laps until I kicked it in and finished right in front of Dallin and Jason. First time breaking 5 which is kinda cool but I know I'm a lot better than a 4:59. I can't complain too much because your races generally reflect your workouts and a lot of my workouts have looked like my race today. The 4x400 turned out a bit better. I anchored our team to a win with about a 56-57 split.

AM - 3 miles. Just the usual but with some wind. My legs felt super fresh and so I kind of pushed the pace a bit. Plyos were good.

PM - 8 miles with fartleks (3 sets of 2 min on, 1 min off, 1 min on, 30 sec off, 30 sec on, and 2 min. off between each set). It was super windy today so Coach decided to change the workout to this. I was supposed to do 4 sets but my stomach was so jacked that I just couldn't do the last set. First time in a super long time that I actually had to stop to go the bathroom on the run and the first time in a while that I have cut a workout short. I think mentally I wasn't with it either. I just haven't believed in myself as much as I have needed to lately. That's the reason I have struggled lately.

AM - 3 miles. It was pretty cold this morning and my legs were pretty blah. Good book discussion.

PM - 5 miles. 4 miles with 4x200. It was finally a warm day again. Legs still didn't feel great but it was a nice run. I kept the 200s a lot slower today and tried to work a bit more on form. We worked on handoffs today since most of us aren't very good at it. I already felt pretty good about handoffs but it helped me fix a few mistakes. I also practiced blocks today for the 400 since it's clear that I'll pretty much a Varsity 400 guy now because none of the sprinters really want to do it. I worked on blocks forever but just could not find something I really liked. There were some okay things but nothing super impressive. I think it may be that I'm just not super comfortable with the blocks yet so I think it is going to take a lot of practice.

AM - 3 miles. It was a lot warmer today but the legs were tired.

PM - 6 miles. I ran the 400 today. I just couldn't get moving today. I gave a good push but it just felt like I wasn't moving as fast as I could. My legs were feeling a bit tired this morning so that may have been the problem or it could have been insufficent warm up but I felt pretty good with my warm up. It was still a PR, nonetheless, but I know that isn't the best I can do.

AM - 6 miles. 800 today and then a 10 min. AT to LT tempo progression. I felt very good today. My legs felt super good and the weather was very nice so I knew this could be a good race. I got out quick and was in a great position. I came through the first lap in about 61 or 62. I started picking it up at the beginning of the second lap but I slowed down again with 300 to go and didn't pick it back up again. I ended up getting passed by like 3 people and I didn't quite qualify for BYU which is super disappointing. I know I really should be running sub 2:10 but I just haven't run like I should have. I'm feeling fine physically but my mind isn't quite there yet. I just got to keep working on that. The progression run after was fairly strong. It was a slower than AT at the beginning but I was able to finish strong and was really close to my LT.

My goal for the week is to get more sleep. I get about 7 hours a night which is okay but I really need to be getting 8 or more hours a night so I'm going to work on that this week.

AM - 7 miles. 4x1600 at 87% (goal - 5:29) with 400 recovery and 1 mile warm/cool. We did our workout this morning I think to space it out a bit more from the Panther Relays tomorrow. I'm glad we did since it ended up being boiling lava hot after school. I didn't do as great as I hoped but an improvement from the last couple of weeks. My times were 5:26, 5:30, 5:32, 5:40. I guess I may have started a little fast but I knew I needed to push right with Matt and those guys to help me stay on pace (and maybe even help them stay on pace). I think I just have a lot of negative vibes towards this workout and so it really starts to drag me down. I have kind of gotten in a habit of running this workout like poop and so week after week it drags me down. I think that I am going to have to forget all the times I have done bad on this workout and just remember the good times and I think that will help me out a bit.

PM - 5.5 miles. 4 miles easy with barefoot striders and 1x300 and 1x400. Great run but it was super hot. The foot was hurting a bit so that was a little frustrating. I hate how it just keeps coming back to bother me. The 300 was a good push but not sure of my time. The 400 was just a race between a few of us for the 400 spot in the DMR A team tommorow. I totally stunk it up with probably my worst 400 this year but that's okay. The legendary Goggles was definitely the smarter choice.

AM - 3 miles. Nice run and I felt good.

PM - 6 miles. Panther Relays today and I did the DMR 800, 4x100, Sprint Medley 400, 4x800, and 4x400. Nothing amazing today. It was really just more of a workout and just a fun time. We had the 4x800 competition again this year where the loser would buy everyone else donuts. My team was me, Andrew, Dave, and Logan. So no superstars but a better balance then everyone else and we won which was kind of cool. The other events were fun too but it was so tiring. After everyone had left the meet I did a barefoot cool down with Matt and we also did our core exercises. It was just really fun to talk to Matt because he is a lot less crazy and a lot more positive when he's not with the whole group.

AM - 3 miles. It's starting to get a lot warmer in the mornings which makes me happy (even if it means hot afternoons). Great run and a little bit slower than normal was also nice. Plyos after were good.

PM - 5.5 miles. Note that R stands for race pace and that im this is based off a 2:10 800. 600 (R+4, Goal - 1:41), 400(R+2, Goal - 1:07), 300(R, Goal - 48), 200(R-4, Goal - 28), 100(R-2, Goal - 14) with equal recovery and 1.5 mile warm/cool. Great and very quick workout today. The 800 and 1600 guys had the same workout but just different paces (800 was faster). It was really nice to have the faster pace because it meant I got to push right up there with Byron and some of those other guys. I ran very well but maybe a little fast. I just really wanted to stick as close as I could to Abel so that made most of them fast. My times were 1:42, 1:03, 45, 25, and 13. Weights after were good.

PM - 5 miles. 4 miles and 4x200. Good exploration run. My foot hurt a bit and it was hot but it was a fun run. 200s after were good but I just took them really slow.

PM - 5 miles. 400 today. It wasn't my best today. I didn't get out very fast and didn't finish very fast either but my time was still about the same as it has been. Esplin and Abel gave me a new strategy for this race after so I'll try it out next time. My foot is starting to hurt a lot again which really worries me.

AM - 5 miles. 800 today. This race turned out pretty decent today. I just barely made the 2nd fastest heat which made me super happy because it meant I would have some guys to push with. I got out quick and right into 2nd place and my first lap ended up being about a 62. I slowed down on the 2nd lap like I always do and got passed by a bunch of people at the end but I did a lot better today. I ended up qualifying for BYU which was super nice and was pretty much all I came to do today. I know I can run a lot better than this though. I'm going to work on the second half of workouts more so that I can translate that over to my races. Great week but I didn't quite get my goal of 8 hours of sleep every night. I got to work on that.

AM - 8 miles. 4x1600 (goal - 5:29) with 400 meter recovery and 2x300 all out  with full recovery and 1 mile warm/cool. I did much better on this workout today. I tried to stay a little more positive and work on my form and it turned out pretty well. My times ended up being 5:28, 5:26, 5:29, 5:29. The 300s weren't as fast as they could have been but still pretty decent. I ran a 44 and 45. My foot hurt a bit today.

PM - 4 miles. 3 miles and striders. Short day at school today and Coach and all the seniors went to Senior Sluff so numbers were thin. We ran through Sandbergs to Water wheel park and did striders. It was a super fun and relaxing run.

AM - 3 miles. The usual with yoga. My foot was a little bit bothersome.

PM - 5 miles. Coe Workout #1 Today with 1.5 mile warm/cool. This workout is a lot harder than you think. All the guys were running it with us so it was pretty crowded which I think will really help me get ready for some of these bigger races. I tried to get out quick so that I didn't get trapped but towards the end, I got so tired and I just couldn't. I was pretty close to my times at the beginning but I didn't finish strong and so my last few were garbage. Weights after were good.

AM - 3 miles. Nice and easy this morning. Plyos on the other hand were difficult.

PM - 5 miles. 4 miles with 4x200. We practiced our handoffs again today which was super fun but the actual run was kind of blah. I just felt really tired because I didn't get a whole lot of sleep last night. I couldn't really get moving on the 200s and so I didn't stress too much about it and just took them easy. Need to get to bed earlier tonight.

AM - 3 miles. Nice warmer morning. Foot hurt a bit.

PM - 5 miles. I ran the 1600 and 400 today. The goal was to try and go with the leaders and see what I could do. It was super hot today which worried me but I dumped some water on myself before the race and that helped a little. I got out quick and right in the mix with everyone. First lap was 1:08. On the second lap I slowed down a bit but leaders weren't too far ahead. Second lap: 1:11. My third lap was total garbage. The first two laps my mind was quiet but coming into that third lap, I started to think about the heat and pain and I slowed down a lot. Third lap was 1:17. I tried to pick it up on the last lap but I just couldn't get myself to go and this Cedar kid passed me. With 100 to go I kicked it in hard, passed the Cedar kid and finished just a little bit behind Andrew. Fourth lap was 1:16. It wasn't the race I was hoping for but a PR and decent race nonetheless. I ended up 8th place overall and scored a point which was cool even if this race wasn't super competitive. I still need to work on the second half of workouts and races. I also ran the 400 but it was really bad. It ended up being a 59. I was so burned out both physically and mentally from the 1600 that I just couldn't get moving.

AM - 5.5 miles. 600(R+2), 400(R), 300(R), 200(R-4), 100(R-2) with equal recovery and 1.5 mile warm/cool. Goal times were 1:39, 1:05, 48, 28, and 14. The legs were still feeling pretty tired from the race yesterday and I just couldn't get going like I should have. I hit 1:42, 1:04, 48, 29, and 13. The times weren't too bad really but it didn't really feel like I was where I was supposed to be and I was running slower than last week.

AM - 8 miles with 1.5 mile hard finish. Met up with the guys at Preston's this morning and we ran Prospector. Super fun run. It has been a while since I have hit a trail and a while since I didn't have a race on Saturday. On the hard finish, we started out a little slow and so I decided to take the lead and picked it up. We ended pretty strong around 5:30 pace. Had breakfast at Preston's and then had some legit games of speed.

AM - 9 miles. 4x1600 (goal - 5:23ish) with 400 recovery and 1.5 mile warm/cool and 2x300 all out. I finally moved up to 89 which was good but I ended up running slower than last week. I am honestly afraid of this workout because I always stink it up. My times ended up being 5:27, 5:29, 5:31, 5:36. I really should be able to run better than this but I get really scared about messing up again and that just screws me up more. My 300s weren't very impressive 47 and 44. My foot started to hurt a little bit on the cool down. Weights and Plyos after.

PM - 3 miles. Got in a quick one by myself later in the evening. I felt pretty good besides a little foot pain.

AM - 3 miles. Good run this morning with a good turnout. Yoga was great.

PM - 5.25 miles. 8x200 at 3 to 4 seconds faster than 800 race pace (goal - 28 to 29) with decreasing recovery and 1.5 mile warm/cool. It wasn't super hot today but it was pretty windy. Luckily, we used the wind to our advantage as much as possible. My times were 29, 29, 28, 29, 29, 28, 32, and 29. I love speed workouts but this was pretty difficult. They went by super quick and we mostly had the wind at our backs but it was still tiring. Good push and I felt pretty good. Very little foot pain but I did feel a bit dehydrated.

PM - 5 miles. Coe #2 (200, 220, 240, ... , 300) with equal recovery and 1.5 mile warm/cool. Pretty easy workout today. It was definitely easier than Coe #1. I had no trouble hitting my times and on a few I was even a little fast. I just tryed to stay right with Abel and those guys today and it went pretty well. I was usually just a few steps behind. Foot only hurt on the cool down and didn't really notice any knee pain. Super bummed to find out SUU was canceled. I was really looking forward to running some fast times.

PM - 5 miles. 4 miles and striders. Pretty windy today but we said yolo and went and jumped in Sandbergs. The water was a bit chilly but it was the wind that got me. It was a nice easy run and super fun. Striders felt great too but foot hurt after.

AM - 3 miles. Good run this morning but I cut Plyos short because of my foot.

PM - 8.5 miles. Raced the 1600 and then ran a 2400 (goal - 8:07), a 1600 (goal - 5:25ish), and 2x300 all out. The race was garbage today. I really wanted to come out and State Qualify but I wasn't even close. I got out quick and right behind Nick for the first lap and was still in a good position on the second but I fell apart on those last two laps again. Splits were about: 1:06, 1:12, 1:19, and 1:20. The workout ended up being a lot more positive. I just stuck myself just a little bit behind Paul for the 2400 and 1600 and I hit a 7:39 and 5:46. On the 1600 I started slowing down half way through but I saw Dallin pushing really hard ahead of me and so I got right with him and finished really strong. I don't know what it is about Dallin but I always push a lot harder when I'm with him. The 300s were my fastest ever. I hit 43 on both.

PM - 5 miles. 4x400 all out with full recovery and 1.5 mile warm/cool. We went up to the JV meet at Canyon View and did our workout up there on the road. It was super windy so we decided to use the wind to our advantage. We found a nice downhill spot which helped make it even faster. We couldn't ever get the distance quite right so the times were all over the place. I hit 53, 1:01, 58, and 1:03. Pretty tough workout and I was super tired after.

PM - 4.5 miles. Kosmin #3 with 1.5 mile warm/cool. I did super good today. I got out a little slow on the 1st 60 seconds but I put myself in the mix with Andrew, Paul, Matt, Nick, and Jason on the last three and I ran really well. I ended up with a distance of 1514 which is about 70 meters better than my best. My predicted 1600 time is about 4:33 which shows that I could run a state qualifying time if I have the guts. Foot didn't bother me at all.
