AM - 8 miles. 60 min. Las Vegas Invite. Pretty good race for me today. The plan coming in was to stick with Nick as long as I could. I didn't get out very well and I lost Nick right away and I had to weave around a ton of guys trying to catch back up to him. I caught him around mile 1 and we worked really well together for a little bit until I realized he wasn't quite with it today and I decided to go catch Paul. I can't really remember when I caught Paul but I didn't stick with him for long because Centennial had 3 guys in front of all of us and I had to catch some of them. I don't really remember much about the rest of the race. I mostly just shut my brain off and ran but 2 of the Centennial guys died off pretty hard in the last mile and I was able to pass them. As we came to the finish there was a kid just barely in front of me that I couldn't get myself to go and catch so there is something I need to work on: my kick. I ended up finishing 1st on the team and beating Nick for the first time ever which was super weird even if it was only by 0.2 seconds and it was an off day for him. I'm still really confused about what place I took because I got a 5th Place Medal but the results say I took 6th and I'm almost positive that there was only 1 Centennial guy in front of me instead of 2 like the results say. Great race for our whole team today too. I helped us win the Large School Varsity Guys race, our Frosh/Soph boys won their race, our JV guys were 1 point away from a perfect score, and our Varsity Girls took second. Las Vegas also does a Grand Champion award for all the races and our guys won it so that was legit and we had tons of people walk away with super legit medals. Super fun race today.
