Total Distance

AM - 3.75 miles. 30 min easy. Hamstrings still felt tired and sore from the weekend.

PM - 7.5 miles. 50 min with 2 set Michigan and striders. Well the Michigan is basically a tempo workout with varying tempo paces. A 2 set Michigan starts with 800 meters on the track at 5k race pace, then 1.5 miles on the grass at 10k race pace, then 800 meters on the track at 5k race pace, 1.5 miles on the grass at 10k race pace, and an all-out 400 to finish. Total distance of the 2 set Michigan is 4.25 miles. We have two different standards (A and B) that we try to hit and are awarded if we do so. I came in looking to hit A standard for the first time which is a time of 25:10. I did not do as well as I should have today. In fact, most of our team ran pretty bad today. I took it out fairly slow with Jake and we slowly started working our way up to where we were supposed to be. As we hit the 2nd 800 meter on the track, Jake really started moving and I couldn't get myself to go with him. I caught Nick this time on the track and I could tell he was really struggling and so I passed him. The rest of the time, I was working on catching Jason but couldn't quite do it and finished quite crappy and Nick came back and passed me. I sadly missed out on A standard running like a 25:40 or something like that. That's pretty much the same time I hit last year so that's a little bit frustrating. I have definitely decided that I don't run so well when I take it out slower because I'm not very good at speeding up to make up for the slow start. I have made it a goal to get out fast from now on, not necessarily a front runner but definitely up closer to the front. I felt hardcore tired afterwards so I definitely need to work on getting more sleep.
