I felt really good with my race today. I only got a short warm up in because we warmed up too late but I was okay with that. I was seeded 1st in my heat again and I decided I wanted to win my heat. I started off quick and me and a kid from Millard took the lead right at the beginning. I stuck right on his tail as we soared to about a 1:10 first lap. We slowed down on the second lap and I could totally tell so towards the end of lap I tried to pass him. But as I came around him, he sped up and I backed off. We were around 2:30 on the second lap so we had slowed significantly. On the third lap, I started to fall off him and he had about a 10 meter lead. But, as we came into the final lap, I started pushing and was on his tail again with 200 meters to go. That is when I started doubting myself and had a major mental struggle. I was about to back off and let him take it but I knew I wanted to win and finally made my move with 100 meters to go and outkicked him. I am super happy with how I did and it was super fun. It was so fun leading the race because they have an announcer guy telling what is happening like it was a radio station. So the whole race, I heard him keep saying my name (at least my last name) along with the guy from Millard. I also crushed my time for a 17 second PR.
