AM - 3 miles. I felt okay this morning with little foot pain.

PM - 4 miles. 3 miles and striders. We traveled up north for the BYU invite and so we did a little shakeout run once we got there. It was actually a really fun run. My foot didn't hurt and we found a nice court to play some Bball.

PM - 5 miles easy. We watched races and stuff all day at BYU and did our run once we got back to the hotel. We ran back to the court again and balled it up again. My foot and knee hurt a lot more today so I don't know if it was a great idea to play.

Race - Raced the 800 today at BYU. I once again ran a terrible 800. I got out quick in a 61 but finished bad again with a 2:10. I know I really should be running a lot faster than this but I have failed to show that I can. I guess I have one last chance to prove it at Region.

AM - 3 miles. Second to last morning run of the year. It was nice and warm and it is starting to get a lot brighter in the morning. My foot hurt a bit.

PM - 5.5 miles. 2x1000 @ 95% of 1600 with 3 min recovery and 2x300 all-out with full recovery and 1.5 mile warm/cool. I didn't really know my goal time so I just tried to stick in with Presto and Andrew and some of those guys. I hit 3:07 and 3:15. The second one was a little slower because we didn't group up very well like on the first one. We really need to work on grouping up more. The 300s were junk today. I started to feel really dehydrated on these. I feel like I hydrate really well throughout the day but a lot of the time, I feel really dehydrated during the workout. I don't know what my deal is. Anyways, I hit a 45 on the first one and then ran terrible on the second and hit a 52. I think that was my slowest of the season. My foot also hurt a lot today. I'd love to run at State but I think it is good that I am not so that I can give my foot a little extra rest before Cross.

AM - 3 miles. Great first run with my new Virratas. We also celebrated NHB day. It was legit. Yoga was nice too.

PM - 4 miles. 3 miles and 4x200. Super fun run today. We ran to Sandbergs and almost everybody jumped in today. I think it was the most people that have ever gotten in. I felt really good on the 200s and my new Virratas just felt great so I really got moving on them today. I felt super smooth and fast. Foot felt great.

PM - 4 miles. Raced the JV 800 today. I didn't race very well and it was a lot slower than I wanted it to be. When the gun went off I got out into about 3rd or 4th and I just stayed there for the first lap. We came around in 63 which is actually one of my slowest first laps this year. On the second lap I should have moved up and attempted to win it but I just stayed in the same spot and I got passed by a couple people. I didn't kick it in very well but I did pass one person so something positive did happen. Not what I was hoping for today though. Foot didn't hurt at all until the cool down.

PM - 4 miles. I ran the 1600 and 400 today at Region. This was a terrible race for me today. It honestly looked like I was only running a three lap race. I got out slower than I have all year but that was my plan. I just let everybody else lead that first lap and then on the second I made a move and pulled right into second behind Spencer of DH. I ran right on his shoulder until halfway through the third lap where I pushed him out of the way and made a good move (I was a real jerk today while I was racing). I didn't really look back at this point but I could tell that I had pulled a way quite a bit and that really freaked me out and I slowed down. Spencer and Sage caught back up to me again just as we started the last lap and just left me in the dust. I pretty much jogged that last lap in. My last lap was so slow that I got passed by 10 people and went from sub 4:50 pace to not even breaking 5. That was probably the worst race of my life. I ran a great first three laps and had started making a good move during that third lap but I quit on myself. I was scared of making a move that very well could have helped me win the race. Instead I finished in 11th. I've got some serious work to do over the summer if I'm going to be able to run better than this. The 400 was a little better but I finished with a 57 again. Well, that was my last race of track.

Track 2014 in Review:

I did not have a very good track season. I came in with some high expectations but just couldn't get myself even close to those expectations. It wasn't because my goals were too high and impossible. I was actually in some decent shape and I had a lot of speed and talent. After all, my last Kosmin predicted my mile time to be 4:33. The talent, the strength, and the speed was there but the hard work wasn't. I had a horrible winter training and once track rolled around it didn't get much better. I couldn't hit hardly any workouts and so it isn't hard to see why the season ended up like it did. I came in looking to State Qualify but I ended not even able to break 4:50. This track season has ultimately just been one big failure. I shouldn't be so negative about it though because you learn so much more from failure than you ever will from success. Failing isn't a bad thing as long as you learn from it and use it to improve yourself. I once heard that failure is not falling down but refusing to get back up. I can tell you right now that I am going to get back up and I'm going to use this to help me have an awesome cross season. So Track really wasn't a failure for me but a stepping stone to something greater.
